contact information, websites and any alerts
for the business.
If the reviews for the company are acceptable,
you can take your search a step further.
Go to the company's official website and take a look around.
If the website does not start with HTTPS
or show the lock icon, leave immediately.
Look for other warning signs like poor spelling,
design issues, and poor quality images.
If everything checks out, read through the shipping
and return policy.
If there is no return policy, that's another red flag.
You should also be able to find a company's legal
information like terms and conditions, privacy policy
and data collection policy.
Finally, make sure the payment options are secure.
If a website only accepts non-traditional methods
like gift cards, cryptocurrencies, bank transfers,
and P2P apps, you'll want to steer clear.
Legitimate businesses will accept credit
and debit cards, recognizable payment options like PayPal,
and sometimes offer buy now pay later options too.
Everybody loves a bargain, but remember,
if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
